Caribbean Foods Ltd. receives Nicola Gordon-Rowe Buy Jamaica Award for 2008
Caribbean Foods Limited, producer of the great Jamaican brand Foska Oats, is the proud recipient of the Nicola Gordon-Rowe Buy Jamaica Award for 2008. The Award was presented to the company at the 41st Annual Awards Banquet for the Jamaica Manufacturer’s Association held on Thursday, October 8, 2009.
Nicola Gordon-Rowe is the late Executive Director of the JMA, who passed away in 2007. The Buy Jamaican Award was named in Mrs. Rowe’s honour because though not a manufacturer, she was a patriot who knew what it meant to promote the development of manufacturing through initiatives such as the “Buy Jamaican…Build Jamaica” Campaign. It was also under her leadership and that of Immediate Past President Ms. Doreen Frankson, that the Campaign was relaunched in 2004 after an eight-year hiatus.
The criteria for the Award include the extent to which the Buy Jamaican logo is used in promotions, the company’s participation in JMA-endorsed Buy Jamaican activities, the percentage of total inputs sourced locally, and the benefits derived from utilising these inputs.
The other candidates for the Buy Jamaican Award were P.A. Benjamin Manufacturing, Boss Furniture, Newport-Fersan, and Designs by Marc.
